best native DAW for surround

Cubase SX is the best of those 3 if you can live with the 96KHz sampling rate limitation. If you need 176.4 or 192KHz sample rates and you can't afford Nuendo, get DP. Logic Pro 7 still offers only rudimentary support for surround - for example, there are no surround-aware plug-ins available (to my knowledge) for the Audio Units plug-in format (and the VST-to-AU wrapper doesn't support multichannel plug-ins)... Plus Logic's audio processing quality (sample rate conversion, etc.) is the worst of the bunch. By contrast, Cubase SX supports the Steinberg Surround Edition plug-ins (extra $) and also comes with some basic surround-aware plugs, while DP has a relatively complete selection of basic surround plugs, though i don't think they're as sophisticated as those in the Steinberg Surround Edition. Noiz I heard that rumor too. However, sources tell me it's nonsense and over 1 yr old already. If they did buy it, it would certainly be to kill the application, as Nuendo seeems to be the #1 threat right now to Pro Tools.....at least that's what people have been telling me from the general vibe around the industry. Again...those are all rumors too. I highly doubt Nuendo is much of a threat to Pro Tools. Too many Pro Tools systems in daily use, very few people will just go and throw out their equipment just for something newer...

I always figured Apple would buy it to complete their post production suite. Sorry about the old rumor I was just told it as current info the other day..... Just racing along on the Misinformation Super highway.
