Help- lost communication with my midi controller 

I just did a start-drive reformat / full re-install. For some reason, Reaper is not responding to my X-Session midi controller. (I never had a problem before) The X-session does not come with a driver, it's supposed to be plug&play. Reaper sees something called "USB Audio Device" and I have this enabled, but I don't know if that's it or not. ----------- In the PC's Device-Manager, there are yellow arrows for "PCI Device" and "USB Device" - I assume the latter is my X-session, but why would there be a missing driver, when there IS no driver? Is this a missing system driver? If so, what do I do? -thanks

Thanks, Blechi - But I have an X-Session, not an X-Session Pro. THe regular X-Session HAS no driver, it is plug&play. that's what's so odd. I never had this problem before. It's as if the Windows native driver isn't installed, but I did a full SP3 update. Anyone have any other ideas?

are there any free apps that would make it easy to see if the midi keyboard is showing up?

i seem to have this problem too sometimes... i hve to restart the controller or unplug it and plug it back in.... never tried to see if it shows up in another proggie tho

Midi keyboard is communicating, as is my midi-to-usb adapter. It's only the X-Session that is not. When I uplug-replug, I get the hardware manager, but again: THERE IS NO DRIVER REQUIRED for this unit. This is absolutely bizarre, and I have a gig tonight. Clock is ticking... This must be a Windows issue, but how to fix it?

Kons, tThat device IS enabled, but no communication from the X-Session. -and I've been battling problems for 2 months. --------------------------------- ANY IDEAS OUT THERE? I dumped & re-installed all the native Windows usb-drivers. The device-manager's yellow arrow is gone. If I unplug-replug the X-session, a prompt tells me that the device is connected and ready for use. Reaper now sees the following in the Midi Devices - Inputs window: My Lynx audio card. (functioning) My midi keyboard (functioning) "Usb Audio device" "Usb Audio device 2" They are all enabled for midi-control.. Reaper STILL isn't seeing my X-Session's cc info, and I tried a brand new one as well. .

Wel, I finally figured it out, with thanks to all. The yellow ? in my Device Manager was indeed a missing system driver. (the one used for my X-Session, so it can be plug&play.) After that, it turns out I had a corrupt instance of Reaper. I deleated it & re-installed, opened the same exact session, and all is well. Go figure! -But thanks again to you all, as always.
