Master Track Channels, only 1/2 works?

Please someone tell me I misunderstood something. If I make the Master Track have 4 channels, then I should be able to route two of those, say 1/2 to one HW output, and the other two 3/4 to another HW output. Right? Well, it doesn't work here. I'm not sure that the pic really adds anything, but anyway, see here. When I route channels 3/4 to either HW output (and I've tried more than those shown in the pic) there comes no audio. Audio comes at the resp HW output only when channels 1/2 are routed there. No difference if it is the first or second (or third...) HW output, so it's not a problem of any specific HW. Behavior is the same when routing output to my external USB aduio card. What am I missing?

Have you got audio on a track on ch3/4? Ive made a test project that has ch3/4 on the master routed to the main(1/2) outs, if you switch it to ch1/2 in the send, there will be no output. Just replace the audio file with one of your own.

Thanks Billon, I guess this answers the question that there is something about this that I do not get. If I have a track for which I have 4 channels, then surely all media for that track will be sent on all four channels. No? Does this not work the same way for the master track?

Hey Fab, You can actually send it to all 4 channels (if you want to) by routing 1/2 -> 1/2 and adding a new send 1/2 -> 3/4. (Ah and BTW: sort of interna. Hope it went well with your - as you wrote "(sort of) girlfriend"). -Data

OK, I see now, audio is not sent by default to all channels, only to 1/2. That explains it all. Thanks guys. And Data man... the "(sort of) girlfriend" thing is for tomorrow. I'll report back :-) Thanks for remembering...
