Track Channel Mode: custom

Hi all, quick question about Track Channel Mode Stereo (item settings menu): is there option to grab non neighbour stereo pairs from a multichannel file such as 2 and 4 togheter? Thanks!

Could be, it depends on exactly what you want to do. Let's take an 8-channel audio clip. (a) You could add an FX to the track, open its Pin connector window, select input 2 and 4 and outputs 1 and 1 (b) Or you could open the track Routing window and send channel 2 to channel 1 on a new track and channel 4 to channel 2 on that track.

Thank you so much DarkStar, currently I'm trying to find a way to easy reorder multichannel files, both the paths you outlined are good, expecially the first one but would be great to have the same possibility without inserting any plug-in

Hey Vasto, this VST plugin that I've coded lately should help you to achieve this very easily: It can re-order the channels of a multi-channel file (up to 16 channels) on-the-fly in any way you want. It's sometimes impossible for me to get all drums channels to be in the desired order when tracking into my interface. The patching plugin overcomes this problem. I usually put it into the input fx slot of the track on which I record drums in multi-channel mode. So the recorded file automatically has all channels in the desired order. Of course, you can also use it to "correct" the channel order during mixdown. You can also choose to mute channels that you don't need. It's very helpful to place the WigWare multi-channel vu meter plugin either before or behind the patching plugin to have a visual control over all channel levels. If you already have a multi-channel file with wrong channel order you can simply drop the patching plugin onto the item, re-order the channels and then glue the item to then have the desired order of channels.
