Breaking VHS copy protection is not allowed, but breaking DVD copy protection is allowed. Hmmm...

as long as it's for backup purple-sis and not for personal profit or anything illegal, it's allowed, as far as i know. it might be easier to get it on dvd (if possible) and remove the macrovision protection from your dvdplayer so you can make a vhs copy.

what is vhs copyguard anyway? the only analogue copy protection I'm aware of is macrovision.

copyguard sounds like analog copy protection, so DMCA can't touch
