What is wrong ?

Hi there. I am really NEW to this "back-up" of DVD`s. I have tried several times, and ALL "back-up`s" are BAD...! I put the "back-up" DVD in my DVD-player and it SEEMS to work, but after about 1 hour, the movie freezes...? I have tried 2 different movies now, and tried many times. I use : DVD-decrypter til put files to harddrive DVD2ONE to select subtitles and audio COPY2DVD to burn the DVD (also tried Nero and other progs. to burn) I leave the PC alone while working, close all programs in the background... I have following hardware, if theres anything wrong there ? CPU XP1800 RAM 768 mb. HDD WD 7200/rpm. DVD-R Pioneer 105a Use media 1X speed Do YOU have any good idea what I am doing wrong ? what make/model is your standalone dvd player? go here and see what media it will accept if any and compare. hope this helps!

Hi Rosey Thanks for your reply. My DVD-player is a Kiss DP500. It`s able to play Divx 3,11 + 4 + 5 + Xvid + a lot more;) I have played some of my Divx-movies on the same medias, so the DVD does play these medias. Does anybody have suggestions to other programs I should use ? Kindest Danish

Welcome to the forum: I believe the heads up that Rosey gave was intended to help you find out if your player has problems with specific brands of media, which is known to happen with some standalones. Does your burned file freeze in the pc at the one hour mark? Media incompatibility or file corruption are two likely problems here, from what you've described. Giving your thread a title that reflects the issue you're dealing with is a good start to receiving prompt help, as many members will not even give a second look to a thread that has a poor title. Time is of the essence, you know! You can edit your title within the original post by clicking on the "edit" button, then on "save changes" when you've successfully completed your edit. Check out the Stickies at the top of the page in each forum that you visit, and the Forum Rules, as well. A good understanding of Doom9's rules will help to keep you from shooting yourself in the foot. :) ammck55

I suggest the following procedure for burning a correctly created dvd title set. Assuming that u have a correctly and according to the specs created dvd title set this is the procedure that will never fail in any standalone that exists today. i. Create two empty folders. A AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS folder inside another empty folder. ii. Put the file that u have come up with inside the VIDEO_TS folder and check that u have a complete title set with the following files present VIDEO_TS.BUP VIDEO_TS.IFO VIDEO_TS.VOB VTS_01_0.BUP VTS_01_0.IFO VTS_01_0.VOB VTS_01_1.VOB ... VTS_01_x.VOB U must have all of these present in order to insure max compatibility. iii. Open the VIDEO_TS.ifo with ifoedit and perform a 'Get VTS Sectors' to insure that every pointer is in place and correctly addresses the next one in line. iv. Get a copy of imgtools and create an image of the structure. I am using imgtools 0.89 and I have yet to create a faulty image. v. After the image completion, mount it with deamon tools and check that it plays correctly and as u intend. If there is any kind of structural error powerdvd 4 will discover it. All u have to do is fix it and repeat. vi. If all r OK, unmount the image and burn it with dvd decrypter. This way u'll have a dvd playable in any standalone u can imagine. Trust me on this.

ammck55 Youre absolutely RIGHT :o) I was gratefull for Rosey`s answer, and youre also right in the rest of your comments about my poor headline. But i didnt know what to call my problem, because im NEWBIE to this. And it actually turns out that Rosey WAS RIGHT (in a way). I found out that my DVD burner (Pioneer DRV A05) has many problems with cheap medias (like mine). It has something to do with the firmware version. But its not possible to find the FIRST firmware they made, and that was the only one without problems. So... Maybe I was doing it all in the right way, but the crappy DVD-medias was the problem :o( But then, its weird that I could back-up 6 DivX-movies on a DVD-media (same brand), without any problems, and watch them on the KISS DVD-player..? oddyseus Thanks a lot for your guide. LOL Rosey You like this DVD-player ;) Its quite nice too. I`ll try to look for that FirmWare from WAY BACK :cool: But Pioneer say`s that when you update the FirmWare, you cannot go back to the old/earlier FirmWare. But maybe there`s a trick to this also :confused: Kindest Danish

There is always a trick to everything. I remember reading a trick to rollback a firware to an A04 around a year ago.
