I recall someone on the DUC posting a download site that can update legacy macs to 9.2.X (or something?) are you running 9.0.X? That can cause problems with 9600's and FW drives - hope someone in the know can help you out! Good luck,

If your FW was working right.. then you shouldn't need any 3rd party drivers and it'll work with any and all FW devices. I have a 9600 which is running 9.1 because 9.2.2 can't be installed without some special work-arounds.. and 90% of the time it can read FW drives. I have no 3rd party drivers - and all drives must be initialized with the "Erase Disk" function. I found that the FW card had to be in a buss maser slot for stable use. Without 9.2.2 you will run into times when a drive won't mount tho'.. and you'll have to mount it on a 9.2.2 system and reattach it to the 9600, and it'll be fine. I keep my PowerBook with 9.2.2 around in case that happens. Rail
